Inst-a-lab, port-a-lab, lab-in-a-box, whatever you choose to call it, it has just become a reality at Loyola University Chicago, designed by Drs. Konstantin Läufer and George K. Thiruvathukal as a workaround for shrinking lab space availability. Dr. William Honig is seen here deploying one of the department’s two inst-a-labs in his COMP 170: Introduction to Object-Oriented Programming class this fall semester. The inst-a-lab features a wheeled, waterproof Pelican iM2750 Storm Case in a color that’s very close to Loyola’s Pantone 124 Gold, and seven MacBook Pro 13” laptops.
